M. A. D. Priorities for 2026

  • Help progressive candidates win local elections
We support people who share our values as they run for local office.

  • Get more people to vote
We focus on turnout, voter education, and participation—because democracy only works if people show up.

  • Make local government more open and accountable
We pay attention, share information, and push for transparency in local decision-making.

  • Work closely with like-minded organizations
We build strong coalitions so we’re stronger together and not duplicating efforts.

  • Support national Indivisible campaigns
We connect our local action to national efforts that protect democracy and civil rights.

  • Get more people involved in MAD
We welcome new activists, encourage participation, and work to keep our community active and sustainable.

M. A. D. STATEMENT ON FREE SPEECH

The Michiana Alliance for Democracy affirms our commitment to defending freedom of speech as a fundamental human right. It is through this freedom that societies grow, injustices are challenged, and innovation thrives.

Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of any vibrant and democratic society. It empowers individuals to express their thoughts, challenge ideas, and engage in open dialogue without fear of censorship or retaliation. This right is not merely about the ability to speak—it is about the freedom to think, to question, and to be heard.

While freedom of speech protects unpopular or controversial opinions, it also carries a responsibility: to use our voices in ways that promote understanding, truth, and progress. In a world of diverse perspectives, protecting this freedom ensures that no single viewpoint dominates and that all voices—especially the marginalized—have a chance to contribute to the public discourse.

We have a duty as citizens to defend free speech.
